Newcastle Midfielder Amazingly Escapes A Retrospective Ban

|

On Saturday, as Newcastle took a point away to Cardiff City but missed a golden opportunity to take all three available when, with the last kick of the game, Kenedy missed a penalty, we had feared the midfielder would pick up a retrospective three-game ban.

In the first half, the 22-year-old clearly kicked out at the Cardiff City player, Victor Camasara, in what could be perceived as an act of petulance.

However, it appears that Kenedy, who didn’t have the best of games, has escaped any punishment.

It seems that courtesy of the fact that the referee, Craig Pawson, awarded a free-kick, the blatant kick-out wasn’t deemed as an incident that was missed

Bans can only be issued, so the rule book says when an incident is completely missed.

Therefore, Kenedy will not pick up a three-game ban as many supporters perceived he might.

Who is a lucky boy then?
