Newcastle Linked With La Liga Attacker With Reasonable Buyout Clause

|

Newcastle and Everton are said to be interested in signing young Villareal forward, Nicolas Jackson.

The 21-year-old forward, who can play anywhere across the front three is said to have a £29m buyout clause which means that if Newcastle were to stump up the cash, Villareal would have to accept the bid and the talks would progress to the next stage automatically.

Football Insider reports that Jackson has been in good form for his club this season and has even earned himself a call-up to the Senegal squad.

Everton have held an interest in Jackson since the end of the summer window, but now it appears Newcastle have joined the race having sent scouts to Spain to watch the 6’1″ forward in action, returning with glowing reports.

Is £29m A Good Price For A Hot Prospect Or Too Risky?

Worth A Punt

Too much, too soon

Already with a goal and an assist to his name this season in five league games, Jackson has also played in Villareal’s Europa Conference League matches.

With Callum Wilson’s fitness concerns and Chris Wood’s inability to find the back of the net, we are left with Alexander Isak who has returned from International duty with an injury that could keep him out for a few weeks, which means Newcastle are already finding goals difficult to come by this season.

The idea of adding another versatile forward to the ranks is a good one, and while Jackson may be young and unproved in the Premier League, the release fee is relatively low for a player held in such high regard.

We are desperate for new ideas in attack so hopefully, January will see a couple of new additions in the middle and the top of the park, whether Nicolas Jackson is one, only time will tell.
