Newcastle Latest News: EPL Target!

|

Newcastle board makes giant midfielder another huge target.

According to reports, Newcastle United and Manchester United have spoken about want-away midfielder Scott McTominay. The Magpies reportedly “made preliminary inquiries” about the Red Devils midfielder early in the transfer window, according to The Times. In addition to Newcastle, another undisclosed Premier League team is said to have expressed interest in McTominay. The Old Trafford team, according to the report, would reject any offers for the Scotland international.

McTominay is allegedly a favourite of new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag. And it appears that the player may now want to remain at Old Trafford so this could be dead in the water before its even begun. The Red Devils only have McTominay, Fred, and Donny van de Beek as their senior midfielders at the moment so it’s likely they would want or need to retain him if at all possible.

The 25-year-old has received praise from several prominent football experts, and Diego Simeone even asserted that he is among the finest midfielders in the world.

He stated of Man United  in February, before to their Champions League round of 16 first-leg matchup with Atletico Madrid, “They have an amazing midfield.“The work rate is really impressive. Two of the top midfielders in the world with excellent balance are Pogba and McTominay.

As if that weren’t enough, McTominay’s contract is good until 2025, and Manchester United has the option to extend it by another year.

Fair or not, the Magpies will be and should be looking elsewhere because it seems McTominay may be out of their reach.
