Newcastle interested in prolific centre forward who scores a goal every 136 minutes – report

|

Newcastle United have been linked to one of the most exciting strikers on the continent, with Myron Boadu being linked to the club.

Reports from 90MiN have suggested that, even with the January transfer deadline just going past, that Steve Bruce’s team are already getting their summer business planned, and that could start with AZ Alkmaar prospect Boadu.

Despite being just 19-years-old, he is already one of the top scorers in the division, scoring 13 goals from just 22 games in the Eredivisie. In all competitions, he has 19 from 36, as well as 13 assists.

Considering that Newcastle have scored just 24 goals in their 27 league games, they need a goalscorer within their ranks – and Joelinton certainly isn’t that as it stands. While Boadu would certainly be another risk, bearing in mind his age and only doing it within the Dutch league, he has a ceiling which is potentially ridiculously high.

Would Myron Boadu be a good signing?

Haven't seen enough of him

He already has an international cap and a big reputation to boot, meaning that if they could pull off his signing, it would have to be considered as a big coup.

The reports claim that Arsenal could also be interested in bringing him to the Premier League, having shown interest in him in the past, but it’s Newcastle who are seemingly wanting him most, with their scouting team being mightily impressed with the capabilities he is showing.

Fans on Tyneside might be anxious about spending big money on another forward who is unproven at Premier League level, however, this should fill them with a bit more confidence than Joelinton in terms of goalscoring prowess. The Brazillian forward has hardly ever been much of a prolific goalscorer – never getting more than 8 league goals in a season – so it can hardly come as a huge surprise now that he is struggling to score that many in arguably the most difficult league in the world.

This is Boadu’s first-ever full season, but he is showing that he is having no goalscoring problems whatsoever. Taking a risk now could pay dividends both in finding a prolific forward and making a lot of money in the future.
