Miggy In The Team Of The Week …. Again.

|

Are you paying attention, Jack Grealish?

For the second week in a row, Miguel Almiron has found himself in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team Of The Week following his tireless display against Brentford which he capped off with a goal.

Miggy was joined in the Team Of The Week by fellow Magpie, Bruno Guimaraes, who put in a Man Of The Match display against Brentford, scoring two goals.

There were two Manchester City players amongst the eleven with Cancelo and Foden making the cut, but no room for Jack Grealish. What a shame.

Do You Think Grealish's Comments Spurred Miggy On?

Definitely

Nah, It's Down To Howe

In fairness, we should probably be thanking Grealish for his dig at Miggy at the end of last season because whether or not it directly influenced things, there’s no doubt that Almiron has seriously upped his game since. He was scoring for fun in pre-season and his form in the Premier League so far is the best we’ve ever seen from the Paraguayan, not just in terms of goalscoring but his overall play.

Granted, at the start of the season we still saw the main flaw in his game, his decision making in the final third, but something has clicked for 28-year-old in recent weeks and he seems goal hunrgy all of a sudden and long may it continue.

Maybe he knows that Newcastle are on the lookout for someone to take over his position with links to the likes of Moussa Diaby and James Maddison doing the rounds in the summer and continuing to circle.

Whatever it was that lit the fire under Miggy’s bot, I just hope it’s not extinguished any time soon.
