Manager Reveals £2.7m Rated Playmaker’s Imminent Exit With Newcastle A Possible Destination

|

Guingamp manager Antoine Kombauore has revealed that midfielder Clement Grenier is destined to leave the French club very soon.

When asked why the 27-year-old wasn’t involved in the friendly against EAG Brest on Saturday evening, the Ligue One head coach replied:

“He is about to leave. That’s why I do not take risks by playing him. He trains, he is told to pay attention, his team-mates are told to pay attention in tackles… It’s done. Today, what interests us is to build without him.”

French publication L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) suggest there are three clubs “in the ranks” to sign the playmaker with us, Fulham and Everton all in the mix.

It was reported by the same newspaper back in June that Grenier was a target for us and that the midfielder could be available for as little as €3m (£2.7m).

The former Lyon star has struggled with injuries over the past few seasons, and he moved to Guingamp only in January to revive his career.

Since his free transfer switch, he has managed to stay fit, making 17 appearances during the second half of last season, scoring five goals and providing four assists. Should we be interested in Grenier? Let me know in the poll:
