“Makes a change”, “Over the moon” – These NUFC fans react as club note St. James’ trend

|

A few Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after the club shared a recent trend of Steve Bruce’s Magpies when playing at St. James’ Park.

Saturday’s narrow 1-0 win over Crystal Palace was our ninth Premier League home game of the term, and saw that we extended our unbeaten run on Tyneside soil to eight thanks to Miguel Almiron’s first goal in Black and White.

The Paraguayan’s strike came late in the game when Andy Carroll knocked down Fabian Schar’s cross at the back post, for Almiron to fire home from a pocket of space and promote the Toon into ninth in the top-flight table.

It was not the first time that we have left it late to secure a result, either, as our comeback win over Southampton earlier this month required an 87th-minute hit from centre-back Federico Fernandez and our 2-2 draw with Manchester City saw Jonjo Shelvey beat Ederson in the 88th.

That’s three consecutive home games with decisive goals coming after the 80th-minute, while Matty Longstaff’s match-winner against Manchester United back in October saw the young midfielder lash the ball home in the 72nd to settle the encounter in our favour.

Are we more confident to push for results late on under Bruce?

Yes

No

We left it late to secure favourable results at St. James’ Park three times in the Premier League under Rafa Benitez last season, with Salomon Rondon firing home in stoppage-time to beat Bournemouth and in the 80th to beat Manchester City, while Ayoze Perez netted twice after the 80th to beat Everton.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the club’s post on having three-straight matches at St. James’ Park decided so late…

In other Newcastle United news, the Toon have been credited with an interest in an £18million man likely set to be sold in January.
