Jack Harrison Still Linked With Newcastle Move

|

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Newcastle are still sniffing around Leeds winger, Jack Harrison despite having had an initial bid rebuffed.

It’s believed Newcastle tested the water with a cheeky £18m bid for the wide-man which was consequently dismissed out of hand by Leeds as a derisory offer. Now it seems the Magpies may be mulling over going back in with an improved offer, however, it is believed that even that offer will fall short of Leeds’ £35m valuation.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs said “Newcastle have enquired about Jack Harrison. That does tell you that, alongside a young, hot talent, they are also considering a bit more of a proven Premier League product.

“Newcastle are thinking of £20million to £25million if they’re to proceed and Leeds are holding out for £35million-plus.

“I don’t think that Newcastle, even though they are still considering that move, will pay above the odds. That’s the challenge. Newcastle are being very sensible and they’re getting quoted, at times, fees that are considerably above market.”

Should We Step Up Our Efforts For Jack Harrison?

Yes

No

Harrison helped himself to ten goals and two assists last season, a goalscoring record higher than anyone in the Newcastle squad, indicating that he would definitely bring the much-needed firepower to the Newcastle side. He was also in the 96th and 90th percentiles for low passes and crosses among wingers in the Premier League last season according to FBref statistics.

Whether Newcastle will meet Leeds demands or manage to hack away at their resolve remains to be seen, but the Geordies aren’t the only admirers of Harrison with Spurs also said to be interested.
