Injured Newcastle Star’s Return May Have To Wait

|

It looks as though Allan Saint-Maximin has hit a speed bump with his recovery.

Maxi hasn’t appeared for Newcastle since his Goal Of The Month winning strike against Wolves having picked up a hamstring injury.  Manager Eddie Howe had previously said that Saint-Maximin was close to a return but now it seems there has been a setback with his rehabilitation.

Injury specialist, Ben Dinnery said on his YouTube channel: “Unfortunately he’s suffered a slight setback in his recovery from a hamstring problem. That’s the same hamstring injury that he suffered against Wolves.

“Now Eddie Howe wouldn’t give any guarantees on whether the French winger would be back in time for game week nine. That remains to be seen.”

This is definitely a huge blow for the Magpies who are currently lacking that killer instinct in the final third. Any new ideas or creativity would be very welcomed at the minute and not having Saint-Maximin, who has the ability to turn a game on its head, will be a big loss against in-form Fulham, especially given his form so far this season which was starting to really pick up before his injury.

Hopefully, the extended break for international games will give him more time to recover, however, it’s looking like that Fulham might come too soon for the tricky Frenchman.
