Lots of Newcastle United fans on Twitter have discussed the possibility of Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic rejoining the club.
The former United player has carried on his impressive Championship record this season despite the club struggling somewhat. He currently tops the chart as the top goal scorer after 22 games by scoring 16 goals for Fulham.
The forward is still just 25, and according to Transfermarkt, he is still worth £22.5m – a figure very similar to the £22.23m that the West London club allegedly paid for him.
Who would you prefer at the club?
Joelinton
Mitrovic
Since joining Fulham he has had a very impressive goal record. In his 80 games for the club, he has netted 39 times, which of course included a very unsuccessful time for Fulham in the Premier League.
Lots of fans responded to a fan’s tweet who asked whether they would take him back. The answer was a resounding yes, as you can read below…

I would and sell Joelinton but would never happen

Think it had more to do with personality and not following Rafa’s directions. He would be fine under Bruce. Can’t ruin a plan that doesn’t exist.

Weirdly I was thinking about this yesterday. I was never his biggest fan but I feel Bruce would get a lot more out of him. He didn’t suit playing under Rafa imo. I feel he’d do well in the side we’ve got now because we’d have raw pace around him

Better option than JL and DG.

While it might sound good on paper, the odds of this coming off are next to none. Considering that the club are allegedly not willing to go after Jarrod Bowen with his fee being touted at over £20m, then it’s unlikely they will spend more money than that on one of their former players.
It’s also true that Mitrovic’s career improved substantially after leaving the club, so it is hard to see why he would fancy coming back here if he has interest from other clubs.
