Plenty of Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Ciaran Clark has been ruled out for the entire season.
The Chronicle has reported that the defender has sustained ankle ligament damage, and will therefore not be unlikely to play again until the new campaign.
The Irish defender picked up the injury after a collision with Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka a few weeks ago.
This news will undoubtedly hit Newcastle hard considering the sheer amount of injuries they have already picked up this campaign. In fact, this is the third season to fall to a season-ending injury this season, and there are over 10 league games to go, with Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems being the other casualties.
With the Magpies playing five at the back for the entire campaign, it leaves them particularly short in the centre half positions, with just Federico Fernandez, Florian Lejeune, Fabian Schar and captain Jamaal Lascelles available to play in those three positions.
Many fans have reacted on Twitter to the news, with one fan asking how unlucky a club can get, and others talking about how he will be a big miss.
One fan saw one positive being a possible change the formation due to the lack of numbers, though it remains to be seen as to whether that will change.
Here are some of the replies below…

Never nice to see players injured but maybe this might make us move away from 5 at the back?

Newcastle have been stripped to the bare bones for much of this season, and it’s a bit of luck they have a decent enough sized squad to deal with it, otherwise, they would be in a world of trouble.
They face Burnley at home on the weekend and could do with three points to lift the spirits.
