Many Newcastle United fans have hit back at pundit Danny Mills after he placed Miguel Almiron in his worst XI for the Premier League.
The former England international spoke to Football Insider and said that the Paraguayan winger would get into his worst team for the worst performers of the season.
While Mills says he gets why fans would love him for his hard-working attitude, his lack of numbers in the final third of the pitch is a big problem for the player and the club.
In his 26 games at the club, he has managed just one single goal contribution – an assist against Manchester City a few weeks ago.
He said to Football Insider: “I know he works incredibly hard and Newcastle fans love him for his work rate,” Mills explained. “You’re a midfield player and you work hard…that’s mandatory.
“In terms of creating chances, scoring goals…what is it, one assist? He has finally got one.”
How do you rate Almiron's season?
He's been great
He's been okay - but not bad as bad as Mills suggests
He's been awful
Despite the lack of goal contributions, he has still started every game this season playing on Newcastle’s right. Also, he’s not the only one to be struggling for goals in the Magpies’ forward positions; in fact, strikers and wingers have only contributed two of their 17 league goals this season.
@NewcastleFansTV tweeted about his comments, to which many fans replied – as you can read below.
I would name him in my team of worst pundits.

I’d put him in the worst premier league team of all time. And I’d be only slightly harsh

He wouldn’t be far of the XI in that team either

Clearly doesn’t watch football

Why is this list even a thing? I’m sure he tops the list of WORST pundits as disgraceful as that is.

He also put Rashford in a combined Man City Man Utd team.
His opinions are invalid

In fairness to Mills, Almiron hasn’t been having the greatest of campaigns, though it does seem harsh to describe him as one of the worst. From his 16 games, he has just an average of 6.5/10 on WhoScored – the 17th highest in United’s squad.
