Loads of Newcastle United fans were left in stitches after Fortuna Sittard embarrassed Sunderland in the Ultimate QuaranTEAM tournament.
The competition has been organised by Leyton Orient as a way for football clubs from around the world to stay connected with their supporters during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and saw 128 clubs compete on the popular football video game FIFA 20 in the First Round.
Some high profile names took control of their sides, with Andros Townsend, Neal Maupay and Todd Cantwell playing for Crystal Palace, Brighton and Norwich City respectively.
Newcastle have been represented by professional esports gamer PlanetToast, who beat FC Nantes 1-0 on Wednesday to book our place in the next round. Sunderland, though, were not as fortunate.
The Black Cats, represented by the manager of esports team Futwiz, Dan, were absolutely battered by Fortuna Sittard as the Eredivisie side stormed to a resounding 10-0 victory.
Our bitter rivals’ humiliating loss clearly brought a lot of joy to some of the St. James’ Park faithful…
