A few Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to the potential boost the ban on Premier League football due to coronavirus could have on Martin Dubravka’s return.

The Premier League is on hold until, at least, April 3, after it was decided at a meeting of shareholders last Friday that the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters took priority amid the unprecedented situation.

While this has meant that our top-flight meetings with Sheffield United and Aston Villa, plus the FA Cup Quarter Final at home to Manchester City, have been postponed, the break in play could come as a silver lining for Dubravka and head coach Steve Bruce.

It was confirmed last week that Dubravka would be sitting out the remainder of the month through injury, having damaged his medial knee ligaments during our win over with Southampton on March 7.

The Slovakian will now be able to rest up and recuperate over the next few weeks in the hopes of returning to fitness in time for the return of Premier League action, whenever that may be, and potentially without missing a single game.

Will Dubravka return to fitness before the ban is lifted?

Yes

Yes

No

Dubravka is yet to miss out on a place in one of our Premier League starting line-ups since making his Toon debut at home to Manchester United in February 2018, some 79 top-flight fixtures ago.

Over those outings, the 31-year-old has kept 24 clean sheets to the 100 goals conceded, of which 41 have come this season.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the potential boost the ban brought in due to coronavirus could have for Dubravka…

In other Newcastle United news, a three-time league winner turned down the club last year during our search of a key replacement.
