Eddie Howe met the media this morning in his usual Friday morning press briefing ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace live on Sky Sports on Saturday evening. Kick-off is at 5:30pm.
We head to Palace where we’ll likely find them full of confidence having just held our closest league rivals, Manchester United, to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night thanks to a breathtaking free-kick from Michael Olise in stoppage time at the end of the game. Although their form beyond that is hit and miss with just one win in four games.
Eddie Howe will not be taking anything for granted, however, saying: “Two games against them have been very tight. I thought we had more chances in the first game which we didn’t take. The Carabao Cup game could have went either way. We travel to their ground which is never an easy place to go to.
We go there in good form but we don’t under-estimate the challenge” (via The Chronicle)
Newcastle were robbed of a victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the season after our goal was wrongly ruled out following Tyrick Mitchell’s foul on Joe Willock which the officials interpreted as a foul by Willock on Vincente Guaita.
Newcastle will of course be without Bruno Guimaraes for the trip which adds a layer of complication to the proceedings, but Newcastle should have enough about them to see off Patrick Vieira’s side.
