It’s no secret that most of us Newcastle fans believe absolutely nowt that gets reported on the club.

If it’s not the so called football ‘experts’ sharing their view on how they reckon the fans see things or our expectations then it’s the media with story after story that contradicts the last one.

The last few days has seen one of the usual lies in that Mike Ashley is preparing to break the decade and a half old transfer record here before there being a secret £20m deal on the table.

The usual suspects in Sky TV and then the national media backtracked from their guff after that alleged target was said to be Danish striker Nicolai Jorgensen, a striker said to be valued at 20m Euros.

Sky and the like then reported that we had a bid turned down of around £12m, so where this bid of £20m came from is one for the PR department to ponder over next time.

Our local papers in The Chroniclea> and Shields Gazette have been running quotes from Jorgensen’s manager at Feyenoord, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, although im not sure where they’re originally from.

Quoted on the alleged interest from Newcastle, he said:

I know there is interest, I have not heard anything from Martin van Geel (Feyenoord’s technical director). There may be something in play, but I have not heard anything yet.

Anything can happen in the transfer market and if an English club is interested then you know it can go fast.

Whatever happens with Jorgensen, if Ashley was that interested in signing him or getting another top target in then a bid would be offered quickly and taken as high as the club thought he was worth before quickly moving on but as per usual, this is being allowed to drag and is festering with a week left of the window.

Inside, you just know Rafa Benitez will be fuming.
