Dan Langley Loaned Out To Local Lads

|

Young Goalkeeper, Dan Langley has been loaned out to Spennymoor Town for the second half of the season.

Langley had been on loan at National League side, Gateshead for the first half of the season where he made 12 appearances and now he will link up with National League North side, Spennymoor Town for the remainder of the season.

The Moors find themselves in 14th in the National League North, far from where they expect to be after pushing for promotion in recent seasons, and they’re hoping that Dan Langley can halt their slide.

Dan Langley has represented Newcastle at first-team level in pre-season friendlies against York City and Doncaster Rovers and was named on the bench for the Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion in December 2020.

Standing at 6’7″, Dan Langley is a huge presence between the sticks and at 22 years old is still early in his development as a goalkeeper. He has been given the Number 1 shirt at Spennymoor so it sounds like he’s going to get plenty of minutes to help his development.

“Dan has a real physical presence about him and, from speaking to him, I can tell that he is a very determined young lad,” explained Moors boss Jason Ainsley.

“He played for Gateshead against us in pre-season and was excellent, so we got to see him first hand and we know what he’s all about.

“He has already been out on loan in the National League so has experience of this level which was important for us when we knew that Gio (Bellagambi) wasn’t staying.

“We wish him well during his time with us and look forward to working with him in the coming months.”
