“He’s the boyo” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are celebrating Karl Darlow’s birthday by remembering one of his best performances in a Newcastle shirt.
Darlow is now second-choice for Newcastle, but when they were in the Championship, he was the established number one goalkeeper and played an important part in getting Newcastle promoted.
The club decided to post a video of Darlow saving a Nicklas Bendtner and a Henri Lansbury penalty to help him celebrate his birthday.
Newcastle lost the game 2-1, but they were down to nine men for most of the match.
Darlow was superb but he could not keep Nottingham Forest out.
Either way, this was probably one of Darlow’s best moments in a Toon shirt, and these Newcastle fans are happy to remind him of that double penalty save.

Happy birthday, @KarlDarlow! 🎈
Who remembers the birthday boy's penalty heroics against @NFFC back in 2016? 🧤 #NUFC pic.twitter.com/pAF0vMB6gV

This was an outstanding display of goalkeeping.
We were so unlucky to lose this match.

I bet Lansbury still has nightmares about that miss. Brilliant ‘keeping, Mr Darlow.

These Newcastle fans want to praise Darlow for that performance.
Not me, because of the awful refereeing in that game

I remember the worst refereeing performance I’ve ever seen.

Other Toon fans, though, remember how bad the referee was from that game instead.
