Plenty of Newcastle fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that the Premier League, FA, EFL and WSL have agreed to postpone the professional game within England.

The news comes as not much of a surprise, as leagues across Europe have been postponing matches due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

With Newcastle having a decent season and being in the FA Cup Quarter Final, this will come as a frustrating blow, but one which is, of course, necessary for the safety of the players, staff and supporters.

The Premier League’s website claim that the shareholders got together and unanimously agreed that all football shall be suspended until April 4, subject to medical advice and conditions.

It is said that even with the obvious challenges, the Premier League is aiming to reschedule the lost fixtures, including the academy games, when it is safe to do so.

Updates from the Premier League will come “when appropriate”.
