Watch out for Seagulls!

|

Well, what a great start Eddie and the boys got off too this weekend!

Newcastle entered the 22-23 season fray with a fantastic and dominant 2-0 win over Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forrest.

Fabian Schär scored in the 58th minute and the game was wrapped up by Callum Wilson who open his season tally with a fine goal in the 78th. Newcastle dominated the play and the scoreline flattered Forest who looked like they may struggle with the move up in divisions.

Graham's the Name- Im ahead of the game

Up Next Brighton away, and as many of us saw yesterday; Brighton are not going to be anyones whipping boys this season, with a fantastic display away at Old Trafford. Brighton won the game 2-1 and were maybe hanging on at the end but there tenacity and pressing of the ball secured them a much deserved 3 points. Pascal Gross’ first-half brace gave the Seagulls a shock 2-0 lead at half time, with the Man United fans booing their players off as they went down the tunnel.

Newcastle’s management staff will no doubt be looking back over the footage of this game to try and secure any snippets or cracks in the seagulls Armour. Pascal Gross looked in assured form in midfield and we will need to try and keep him quiet if we are to take anything from the game.

Given Sven Botman spent the entire match on the bench, only making a cameo appearance in the final minutes the Forest game, maybe Eddie will look to utilise him to quell the Gross and Wellbeck threat.

Indeed Albion looked well set up, they pressed Man united hard and fought for every ball, our midfield pairing of Bruno and big Joe will need to look to break the Seagulls nest in the middle and stop Gross and Trossard et al supplying Wellbeck up front.

Yet again Newcastle Fans are suffering yet more travel carnage with planned rail strikes on the day of the match. Eddie Howe will hope that the “Toon Army” make it down in numbers and push the lads on, this is gonna be a tough clash between two top class English managers, both of whom are tipped to be amongst the top candidates for the next England managers Job.

Up Next……Dan Burns Botman
