WHO: Sunderland AFC and Newcastle United FC fans/golfers, SAFC under-21 development manager and former captain Kevin Ball, former NUFC player John Beresford and Gavin Brown from Konnect Events (the event organiser).

WHAT: In the run up to this Sunday`s derby match at St James` Park, SAFC and NUFC fans are playing golf in a team competition (Ryder Cup format) and raising money in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Foundation of Light. Kevin and John are the non-playing team captains.

WHERE: Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club, Carrville, Durham DH1 1TD.

WHEN: 10am Wednesday 10 April.

WHY: Rival football fans coming together to support two popular charities that help people in our region.

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and The Foundation of Light.

About the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation:

Sir Bobby and Lady Elsie launched the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation in 2008 and it has gone on to raise over £5.2million to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer.

The charity funds projects within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that directly benefit cancer patients from across the north east and Cumbria – including the clinical trials of drugs at the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre – and which contribute significantly to international efforts and research into fighting the disease.
