Two Magpies Up For Goal Of The Month

|

And the nominations keep on coming.

Following Kieran Trippier and Eddie Howe’s nominations for Player and Manager of the Month respectively, we now have more voting to do as both Miguel Almiron and Joe Willock find themselves in the running for the November/December Goal Of The Month.

Willock is nominated for his winner against Chelsea in the final game before the World Cup break where he took it off the toe end of Almiron and blasted it home from 18 yards with a thunderous effort.

Almiron’s goal against Leicester on Boxing Day is also in the mix after making space for himself on the wing, cutting inside and playing a lovely one-two with Bruno Guimaraes before slotting the ball perfectly in the bottom corner.

Both fantastic goals, but the competition is fierce with Leicester’s (maybe soon to be Newcastle’s) Youri Tielemans in the mix for a stunning strike into the top corner, Mo Salah’s finish after a world-class long-range pass by Trent Alexander-Arnold was volleyed into the path of Salah inch-perfectly by Andrew Robertson and tucked away by the Egyptian.

There are also efforts from Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse – a free kick, you’ll not be surprised to note – an excellent turn and finish by Eddie Nketiah for Arsenal and a rocket by Solly March for Brighton.

But, and I hate to say it, the pick of the bunch is probably the worldie scored by Demarai Gray for Everton where he recovered from a slip to rifle the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper questioning his life choices.

I’m still going to vote for one of the Newcastle lads, mind.

There’s no nomination for Nick Pope for the Castrol Save Of The Month this time around as nobody got close enough to him in November/December.
