Toon Strongly Linked To Brighton Man

|

Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a move for Brighton’s in-form man, Leandro Trossard recently.

Trossard, the man who looks like he hasn’t slept since his fifth birthday, is in scintillating form at the moment which has come at a time where Newcastle have reportedly voiced an interest in bringing him to St James’ Park in the next transfer window. Coincidence? I mean, probably.

Belgian Trossard signed for Brighton in 2019 when a certain Dan Ashworth was their Sporting Director. He has gone on to make 112 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 25 goals, and some of those goals have been absolute worldies, even sending in a scorcher against Man City, beating Ederson at his near post.

Is Trossard Right For The Toon?

Yes!

Nah. We can do better.

On Saturday, Brighton showed Graham Potter what he was missing as they demolished his new club, Chelsea 4-1, Trossard was on the scoresheet again with another superb goal, jinking the ball around the keeper and finishing between two defenders on the line. He’s clearly not afraid to have a go at the big boys, and that’s the kind of player Newcastle want in their ranks.

The Northern Echo believe that Newcastle could get their man for £30m in January, which isn’t a bad price at all for a Belgian international with his talent. Dan Ashworth will, of course, be key to making this one happen, having a pre-existing relationship with Trossard and contacts within the corridors of power at Brighton. However, it is believed that Chelsea also have an interest in Trossard, which makes sense. Potter will be all too aware of his talent and what he could add to the Chelsea squad.

If we come out of the January transfer window with Maddison and Trossard, it’s hard to see us not qualifying for Europe, barring some crazy injury crisis of course.
