The Ball Is In Newcastle’s Court

With the pressures of competing in the top league well and truly in full flight, we have an advantage from the last relegation threatened season in that we know what we have to do.

We have a massive chance with our next two games to lay the home issues to rest once and for all, almost secure another season of loot towards Mike Ashley’s bank accounts and cause further misery to the unwashed down the road.

We do so having the 3rd worst home record with only Southampton and West Brom worse than us on their own patch. We’ve scored only 12 goals but then again, only conceded 15. We have gained the same amount of points at home as tomorrow’s opponents Southampton but theyve played two more games at home.

Away from home, Southampton have a similar record to ours. They have scored 13 times but conceded on 20 occasions. We have played away from St James’ two games more than them with their 12 points recouped coming in 13 games while we have played 15 times to gain our 13 points.

Current form has this down as a scoring 1-1 draw in my opinion with us both gaining 6 points out of our last six games. Both securing the points with one win and three draws. We also have similar form out of the last ten games with us both losing 3 times. Us gaining 11 points to their 9.

The big difference is that our defeats have come home and away to Man City and away to Liverpool whilst theirs have come at home to Crystal Palace and Liverpool plus away to Spurs.

Home games tomorrow and then in three weeks to Huddersfield will be tricky but if we somehow gain the six points up for grabs then going into the final seven game straight, the ball will be firmly in our court.
