Puppet in tangled strings?

Debate has raged this season over the quality of Newcastle`s current caretaker. Rabit 71 has compiled a list of events to suggest what this has cost the club.

Before delving into Rabit`s table, here is a quick reminder of some of the more obvious moments.

Sunderland scored a late equaliser at the Stadium of Light. Newcastle had been winning 1-0 until central midfielder Gosling came on fior Gutierrez. Jonas`s defensive responsibilities include covering the opposing right back on the counter, with Gosling taking up his more natural defensive role in the middle. Bardsley`s shot caused mayhem and the goal.

Spurs, Perch replaced Guthrie later in the game. The balance of the side had been changed. Harry Redknapp reacted by switching Lennon from the right to the left. The space allowed Lennon a run – and the equalising goal.

West Brom were 3-0 down on Sunday. They pulled one back before Pardew made 3 substitutions, bringing on 3 players back from injury and arguably not match fit. On came Lua Lua, Smith and Best. The rest is history. Pardew described the lost points as being down to players losing focus. It`s a good job this wasn`t the manager`s fault.

Pardups have DEFINITELY cost us 7 points this season, placing us 8th in the table

Looking at the decisions, it is probable that Pardups have cost us at least 10 points, and this isn’t even including the shambolic half time talks he must make. those 10 would have put us in 7th.

note: the Tiote red card 0-7 is inclusive of the Spurs and mackem draws and Fulham loss, so the other 2 Pardups involved in those games do not add to the potential upper tier points lost in brackets.

Just to add a cost to this, with every place worth £800,000 in prize money, Sunday alone was worth almost £2.5m. If Rabit is right, the total cost is up to £4m. If this is down to Pardew, then ultimately, it is down to the men who appointed him, Ashley and Llambias. Will they cover up for the mistake by reducing the transfer budget?

Was Pardew inspired or stupid to play Coloccini in midfield against Villa, to play Simpson in 3 positions against Stoke? Is he a good manager or should he have played the leading male opposite Miss Piggy? Do you have a view? Come and discuss it on our message boards
