The aftermath of this weekends defeat to Swansea City rumbles on with talk of player meetings and system tweakings the latest angle the press is going on.

According to the Newcastle Journal, the players met last week to discuss the recent poor form but as ive just said, that was last week, so one can initially presume that the talks were a waste of time, although in respect, at least they are aware that things aren’t good.

In keeping with the tradition of NUFC, we are all experienced to know that for every ‘High’ there can be some spectacular ‘Lows’ coupled with some bad luck, suspension and injury crisis, we certainly do it better than anyone.

News that Yohan Cabaye most likely faces some groin surgery is in keeping with the aforementioned spectacular low, thankfully (*Touches Wood), there is no off pitch scandal to add to the recent problems but don’t rule one out.

Putting all this aside though, we have a European game against Maritimo on Thursday which can go some of the way to instilling some confidence in both the players and fans alike if we get a win. A win that will confirm our participation in this tournament come February and after just one more group game, we can then have a bit of a breather between games to work on our tactics.

Also, we have some top quality players missing of which when they return should see us steady the ship.

Losing players of the calibre that we have was always gonna weaken us and just shows the strength in depth that we require.

Hopefully we limp through to January with a win or three to add to a satisfactory amount of points gained so far and spend the considerable sum of money we must have locked in the safe on the areas that everyone knows we need to strengthen because if we don’t, there could be spectacular consequences accumulating in the club missing out on the greatest pay day the premier league has ever seen due to the impending new TV deal.

Keep The Faith.
