Newcastle Unleash The Monster

Newcastle United today confirmed a new commercial partnership with Monster Energy. An online statement was released by the club via its website.

Monster will become the official energy drink partner of Newcastle United – I assume that means within the concessions stands in the stadium and not that the water bottles on the pitch will be filled with fizzy jet fuel to bloat the players making them burp every other step as they fend of a massive stitch.

“As part of the club’s growing family of commercial partners, Monster Energy will enjoy a digital presence at St. James’ Park throughout the season” Again, I’m assuming this means with regards to the advertising boards and not that there will be holograms dishing out cans of Monster in the concourse.

Commenting on the new partnership, Newcastle United’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, said: “Newcastle United is on an exciting and ambitious journey to grow our global reach and fanbase. On this journey, we are eager to align with partners that share our global growth ambitions.””

Senior Vice President of Marketing at Monster Energy EMEA, Jimmy Goodrich, added: “We’re excited to begin our new partnership with Newcastle United. Monster Energy is looking forward to building its relationship with the club and its incredible fanbase both in the UK and abroad over the coming years.”

It seems that Peter Silverstone didn’t waste any time in getting to work bringing new lucrative partnerships to the club with Monster coming on board just a few weeks after his appointment. There were also several “Fly Saudia” advertisements on the electronic advertising boards during the last two games suggesting that a partnership deal has been reached with the Saudi Airline which could explain their stop off in Newcastle during their recent PR tour in the UK.
