Newcastle United Lineup Prediction vs Manchester United

|

Newcastle take on an inconsistent Manchester United at Old Trafford today at 2pm.

The predicted line-up I’ve gone for this week has changed at the eleventh hour due to the news about Allan Saint-Maximin.

Joelinton Maxi coming back into the first eleven would have been the changes I’d make from the winning team of the last two games, but as Maxi is now injured again, I’m going with Joelinton to come back in for Longstaff as the only change.

If Howe is to make any other change, it could be bringing Matt Targett back into the fold and having Burn sit this one out on the bench. I don’t think that would reflect on Burn’s abilities at all, but having a natural left-back with more pace could be beneficial against a team like Man United.

Who Starts For You Against Man United?

Matt Targett

Dan Burn

The bench should still be strong enough to spring a surprise or two on Man United should we find ourselves needing fresh ideas. Anderson, as we know, definitely has the ability to change a game. Having Targett/Burn to come on to switch things up at the back if we’re struggling isn’t a bad one to have in the pocket either. The pace of Ryan Fraser in the dying embers of the game can cause any defence trouble.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Howe does go with sticking to a winning formula or whether he’s brave enough to change it up. So many managers are afraid to change a winning team, but I don’t think Howe is that kind of manager, he will pick an eleven that he thinks can do the job. That’s why he’s in the dugout and I’m at a computer making stuff up.
