Newcastle To Sign Australian Wonderkid In January

|

Newcastle have been adding to their academy prospects since Dan Ashworth arrived as he looks to improve the club’s infrastructure, and the club continues to scout potential additions.

We have recently been linked with a move for Sunderland’s Chris Rigg, who has been dubbed one of the hottest prospects in the country, and now The Northern Echo reports that we will welcome Australia’s latest starlet to Tyneside in January.

Garang Kuol, who turns 18 tomorrow, has already earned himself a call-up to the Socceroos first team to take on Chris Wood’s New Zealand in a friendly double-header later this month.

The young striker plays for A-League side, Central Coast Mariners and has scored four goals in just 189 minutes off the bench this season. It’s believed there is a release clause which Newcastle are preparing to trigger and Kuol will join the Magpies in January on a four-year deal. The initial buyout fee is thought to be quite low, but there will be a series of lucrative add-ons which will kick in should Kuol hit certain development targets.

HITC has claimed that Kuol’s agreement with Newcastle could net him a staggering £25,000 a week. As it stands, however, Kuol doesn’t yet qualify work permit but his recent call-up to the Australia National squad, the process could be made a bit easier.

Kuol will become Newcastle’s third Australian player following in the footsteps of Curtis Good and Craig Moore.
