Newcastle Keeping Tabs On Striker`s Top Form In League One

|

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray says he is sure Rafa is keeping a close eye on Adam Armstrong’s loan spell at Ewood Park.

The 21 year old found it difficult playing for a struggling Bolton side in the Championship for the first half of the season, but he has excelled playing in the division below for title-chasing Rovers. The League One side`s coach told the Lancashire Telegraph:

‘He`s a young lad learning the game, and I`m sure Rafa Benitez will see the video clips of all of the goals he`s scoring.’

Our young striker’s performances out on loan have been difficult to gauge. As Mowbray says his skills suggest he has the ability to play above League One, but his goal record indicates he is currently playing at his level.

For Barnsley last season he scored six goals in 35 games, and three goals in 23 for Bolton this year. In League One, he scored 20 goals for Coventry, while he has so far hit the back of the net seven times in 12 appearances for Blackburn.

For sure, there have been some reasons why he hasn`t performed in the Championship. Barnsley and Bolton have both been struggling at the wrong of the table. In addition, he has been played out of position in wide areas, especially earlier on this season.

Still, I haven`t seen anything to suggest the player can make it in the Premier League, but he has time on his side to develop and improve.
