Matz Sels may not join Anderlecht on a permanent basis, according to reports from Belgium.

La Derniere Heure are reporting that despite impressing on loan for the Jupiler Pro League club, the keeper is not guaranteed a move back to his homeland in the summer.

Anderlecht do not have a purchase option on the 26 year old, and there are question marks over whether they can afford the asking price we will demand for the player.

Instead it seems they are considering a move for Serbian goalkeeper Emil Rostov who plays for FK Vojvodina. They are currently scouting him as well as several other keepers.

With that being the case, would the Belgian be welcome back on Tyneside? He wasn`t particularly impressive during his first year with us in the Championship, and the fact we shipped him out on loan just one season after shelling out £6m tells us all we need to know about Rafa`s opinion of him.

Back in February, the stopper said it would be “difficult” if he had to move back to St James`, and I don`t see a way back for him at the club.

He was already behind both Elliot and Darlow in the pecking order, and after the arrival of Dubravka in January, it shows that he would need an injury crisis to ever be selected for the first team again. If Anderlecht can`t afford him, then we will have to find another suitor for the keeper.
