“Mayor” Bruno Guimaraes Gushes About Life In The Toon

|

In an interview with Four Four Two (via The Mag)for their upcoming issue (out tomorrow – Wednesday 21st September), Bruno Guimaraes has been speaking highly of life in the Premier League and in Newcastle.

As part of their South American Special, Four Four Two have been asking Bruno Guimaraes about life on Tyneside since his arrival in January, with Bruno taking the opportunity to once again heap praise on his new surroundings, following on from previously saying how he feels like Newcastle is his home: “It’s a dream come true to be playing in the Premier League. Everything is amazing. Sometimes I think to myself, ‘I was born for this, for the Premier League’. I already feel at home here. The fans are crazy about me and nothing beats that in football.

“Honestly, I get so much love out on the streets that sometimes it feels like I’m the mayor of the city! They spot me and start yelling my name, wanting to take a picture. I’ve met people who’ve got a tattoo with my face on! It’s nuts. That’s the love fans have. Newcastle have been through difficult times in the recent past and now they’re bouncing back.

Every single home game is wonderful, because the atmosphere is incredible – it’s totally different from the atmosphere at any other Premier League ground. Our fans remind me of Brazilian fans and South American fans. It’s damn good to play in a place like this.”

Guimaraes was key in turning around Newcastle’s fortunes last season, bagging five goals in eleven games and giving the Toon Army plenty to cheer about. This season has started a bit slower for the Brazilian with only four starts and no goals or assists to his name, however, the performances have always been there. Even on Saturday when he made his much-anticipated return from injury, he was clearly not 100% fit, but still managed to be one of the better players on the pitch for the 70 minutes he was given.

Fans are always gushing on Twitter that he’s the best player we have had in a long time and it’s hard to disagree with that notion, and it is brilliant to see that Bruno feels like he is living his dream at our club. Hopefully, Eddie Howe can build this Newcastle team around him and we keep hold of him for years to come and deliver the success he deserves.
