Lights. Cameras and Action – FA Cup Tie Moved For TV Coverage

|

Newcastle’s FA Cup 3rd Round tie against Sheffield Wednesday has been chosen by the BBC for TV Coverage.

The War Of Bruce will be shown live on BBC One will kick off at 6pm on Saturday 7th January 2023, so if you can’t get yourself a ticket for the Hillsborough game, then you won’t miss out on the action.

Newcastle currently occupy third place in the Premier League while Darren Moore’s Wednesday hold third place in League One.

The last time these teams met in the FA Cup was back in the 1980/81 season (feels good to say this …. that was before I was born. Just) and Newcastle came away 2-1 winners thanks to a brace by The Man, The Myth, The Mullet, Chris Waddle.

More recently the two sides clashed in the Championship and both the home and away ties were won by the Owls. Then to add insult to injury, a couple of seasons later they allowed us to poach Steve Bruce from them as boss.

Wednesday fans might feel they owe us for that one and as such probably won’t begrudge us a win in this tie. I personally feel nothing short of a 6-0 win for the Magpies will be justice.

Hopefully, the horrors of recent cups is behind us and we will progress beyond the third round in the FA Cup, and by the time this game comes around, we’ll also know if we’re still in the Carabao Cup after we face Bournemouth at St James’ Park in that competition on the 21st December.
