In-form Defender Earns Contract Extension

|

Emil Krafth showed last season why he’s an automatic selection on his home country’s team sheet as the Sweden International found his form in the second half of the last campaign following Kieran Trippier’s injury. Krafth was trusted by Howe to martial the right side of the defence and duly stepped up to the task.

His upturn in form has earned the 27-year-old a one-year extension to his deal, keeping him at St James’ Park until 2024.

Krafth’s new-found form has earned him the nickname “Krafu” on Tyneside and if it weren’t for the huge turnaround in form from Brazilian teammate, Joelinton, Krafu would be the most improved player in the Newcastle squad since Eddie Howe took over.

Speaking to NUFC’s media team, Krafth said: “I’m very, very happy to extend my contract here – me and my family love to live here – and continue with the journey we started with the club. I’m really looking forward to the future at the club.”

Eddie Howe added:  “I’m very pleased Emil has extended his stay with us. He made an excellent contribution to the team last season and he continues to add valuable strength to us.”
