This morning Newcastle announced that Jeff Hendrick has joined Championship club, Reading, on loan for the season.
Good luck, Jeff! 👊

The lacklustre tweet and tiny club statement seems fitting for the player that many fans still can’t believe ever wore the black and white of Newcastle.
Hendrick was signed for free by Steve Bruce after his Burnley contract expired. He hit the ground running in his first game scoring a belter against West Ham, but then it was almost as if he’d felt he’d done his job and could just sit back and relax for the rest of time. He never looked like he could keep up with the game, his passing was awful, positioning, terrible. He never looked Premier League standard.
The statement on the club’s website reads:
“Republic of Ireland international Hendrick has found his first-team opportunities at St. James’ Park limited since the arrival of Eddie Howe last November, and spent the second half of last term on loan with Queens Park Rangers, where he made ten appearances in the Championship.
And he has now made a similar move to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to link up with Reading, who are managed by former England midfielder Paul Ince.Â
Hendrick, 30, has made 27 appearances for Newcastle since joining the club from Burnley in August 2020, scoring three times.”
I wish him all the luck in the world and I hope it works out for him at Reading – and then the move is made permanent please.
