Hammers “Insiders” Are Bracing Themselves For A Magpies Swoop

|

West Ham outlets are getting nervous as their Claret & Hugh website has claimed that West Ham insiders are expecting Newcastle to come in with a bid for England midfielder Declan Rice in January.

Rice is stalling on signing a new deal at the London club and with West Ham struggling in the league this season, he’s unlikely to be inching that pen any closer to the paper at this point in time. the Hammers have often said it would need a monumental offer to even tempt them into selling, but with his contract running down and the contrast in fortunes both on and off the pitch between Newcastle and West Ham, could we turn his head?

Many Newcastle fans believe we need a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder to round out the squad, so Declan Rice and James Maddison would be two perfect additions to the squad in January, albeit potentially pricey ones.

Declan Rice - Yes or No?

Yes

No

Rice is of course, currently in Qatar with England alongside Newcastle trio, Pope, Trippier and Wilson, and we know how good Trippier is at selling the club to potential targets, just ask Nick Pope.

Manchester United and Chelsea are said to also be in the hunt for Rice but as both are sitting outside of the Champions League qualification positions going into the second half of the season, the more tempting prospect is Newcastle, especially when you factor in everything that’s going on at the club.

Still only 23 despite seemingly being around for an age, Rice would be the perfect signing to bring in and be a cornerstone of the project going forward along with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman.

If there is any truth to this at all, I’m 100% into the idea.
