Fourth Round Carabao Cup Draw Sees Newcastle

|

The draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup has taken place tonight after Manchester United came from behind to beat Aston Villa 4-2.

Newcastle were in the hat for the draw following their penalty shoot-out win last night at St James’ Park. The match was a 0-0 draw and seemed like it would end that way even if they played another 90 minutes.

The penalties taken were a perfect mix of great and horrendous, but when you have a ‘keeper like Nick Pope between the sticks, you’ve got the advantage before a single kick is taken.

There were many Premier League clubs who were knocked out in the third round, but there are still a couple in the draw that could cause Newcastle a problem or two. With Peter Schmeichel and Dion Dublin on duty, the draw got underway just after 10:30pm.

How Do You Feel About The Draw?

Confident

Could be better, could be worse

Nervous

Newcastle were assigned ball number 12 and were pulled out of the hat by Peter Schmeichel meaning we get the pleasure of another home tie. Dion Dublin had the honour of choosing our opposition and he pulled out Eddie Howe’s former club, Bournemouth.

It’s an all-Premier League tie again for the Magpies, but it isn’t the worst tie we could have got.

Elsewhere Man City will host Liverpool meaning that our road to Wembley gets easier as one of those teams will be out of the draw. Obviously we need to overcome Bournemouth first.

The ties will be played in December right after the World Cup Final which will be on the Sunday, and these ties are to be played on the Tuesday and Wednesday straight after.
