CristiaNO Ronaldo – Linked With Toon

|

Yesterday the news broke that Cristiano Ronaldo had left Manchester United by mutual consent.

This came off the back of his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, where he laid into the club, the manager and the owners of Manchester United, making his position there untenable.

Within minutes of the news breaking, social media was awash with Newcastle fans asking the question whether we should take a punt on the Portuguese on a short-term deal.

Bookies were a bit more sensible offering high odds on that happening, but we were still on the list of possible destinations.

Thankfully, many fans see sense and have insisted he’s not a good fit for our club. His attitude is questionable; therefore, he doesn’t fit with Eddie Howe’s whole ethos. Howe has deliberately avoided signing players with huge egos, and egos don’t come much bigger than that of  Cristiano Ronaldo.

Would You Take Ronaldo On A Short Term Deal?

Yes

Nooooo

Not to mention that he’s about a thousand years old, and for all he’s still disgustingly fit, there’s no denying he hasn’t got the legs he once had, and that just won’t work playing Newcastle’s high-tempo pressing game.

Then of course, there’s the monetary aspect. No doubt a name like Ronaldo would be a huge draw for those “fans” who tend to follow players rather than clubs, so we’d get an influx of foreign interest, but at the cost of having to shatter our wage cap – again, another move that just isn’t worth it.

It’s the curse of having the richest owners in world football that as soon as any big name becomes available, they’re instantly linked to us by lazy journalists who just see “richest” and “most expensive” and join those dots without any consideration as to how Newcastle is actually being run.

But, the biggest reason it can’t happen is that R7 would want the number 7 shirt for his brand and there is NO way does he deserve to take that shirt from Joelinton!!

So wherever Ronaldo ends up, good luck to him, just as long as it’s not St James’ Park.
