Club’s December Player Of The Month Announced

|

The Club have announced the winner for December’s Player Of The Month with everybody’s favourite, Bruno Guimaraes scooping the prize.

December wasn’t exactly action-packed with just two Premier League fixtures played that month: The 3-0 win over Leicester City on Boxing Day and the 0-0 draw with Leeds United on New Year’s Eve.

Bruno returned from World Cup action and asked to be put straight back into action when many players around the league who did the same opted to take a rest. Our boys were ready and willing to get stuck back into the Premier League.

Speaking to NUFC.com after picking up the award, Bruno said: “It is always special to be recognised by supporters. They always show their love for me and I love them, so it’s nice to receive the award.

“December was a different month with the World Cup and I missed Newcastle when I was away because this is a special place for me. It was important to continue our good form that we had before the winter break and Leicester on Boxing Day was a big result for us, coming back to the season.

“We need to keep our confidence and momentum now as we have a busy January with big games coming up.”

We have seen a different side to Guimaraes in the last couple of games as Leeds and Arsenal both had players get under his skin and we saw his nasty streak. The perpetual wry smile dropped in place of a face of a man ready to fight for a win.

Guimaraes absolutely sums up the feeling in the squad – it’s all smiles and harmony but they want to win every time they step out on to the pitch and will do whatever it takes to do so.
