With the news that Fabricio Coloccini is injured and Steven Taylor not quite back in full training, We are left with the frightening thought of our two reserve centre backs up against one of the best strike forces in Europe.
The quartet involved are our own Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa with Mike Williamson, against Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
On paper and taking past performances into consideration, this seems like an obvious outcome and one that could see career threatening confidence issues to follow.
However, we know football isn’t so easy to predict and hopefully the two NUFC defenders see it as an opportunity to stake a claim for a place permanently and just give 100%.
If they do then there are other players in our team who can lighten the stress load by threatening the goal at the other end.
