Barcelona And Newcastle To Fight For “Most Valued” Brazilian Youngster

|

Newcastle’s mission to build for the future is underway with Garang Kuol inbound in the next transfer window.

Another youngster Newcastle have been keeping a close eye on is Brazilian, Andrey Santos of Vasco de Gama. This isn’t a new name in the frame as the Magpies have already had one bid rejected for the 18-year-old in the summer.

Now according to Super Vasco (via Sports Witness) it seems that Barcelona are still in the race to sign the kid known as the next Bruno Guimaraes. That alone is a huge compliment to Newcastle that we have a player so good that any kid coming through who shows high promise is being compared to them. He was previously titled the “Brazilian Busquets” so he’s been compared to some pretty amazing players already.

It’s thought that Vasco de Gama are asking around €35m for Santos after previously rejecting a €20m approach from Newcastle. It’s not believed that Newcastle have gone back with an improved offer since, but they still remain interested.

Santos is primarily a defensive midfielder and has a great read of the game when it comes to his defensive duties, but he’s not shy in going forward either having bagged eight goals, the club’s second-highest scorer.

To be thought of as one of the “most valued” players in a squad at 18 shows the potential the lad has, and if we can bring in that kind of talent to go alongside the attacking prowess of Garang Kuol, we will certainly have the makings of an amazing future team, with Elliot Anderson also blossoming under Eddie Howe.
