‘You could not make it up’ – These Newcastle fans are not happy with a massive club decision

|

Fans have been reacting on social media to the news Sam Allardyce turned down the chance of a return to the Newcastle dugout after he revealed it on TalkSPORT.

He confirmed the club made contact through his agent but said he was quick to reject the opportunity, stating it wasn’t the right move for him.

Talking the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show Allardyce said: “I was extremely surprised, and I was very flattered.

“As much as I respect Newcastle fans and Ashley it wasn’t for me. I politely said no and moved on.

“It was about not going back. I thought about it but didn’t think about it for long. I looked at the situation but ultimately decided it wasn’t for me.”

Allardyce was the first manager sacked by Mike Ashley in 2008. He was appointed by predecessor Freddy Shepherd weeks before Ashley bought the club, and lasted seven months before being fired.

Newcastle supporters took to Twitter to share their views on the news that even a manager sacked by the current regime has turned the job down.

One stated it was good because ‘we sure as hell didn’t want you’ back whilst another felt it was so crazy ‘you could not make it up.’
