L’Equipe are reporting that we have contacted Lyon about signing striker Myziane Maolida. The Frenchman is keen to leave the Ligue One side for more first-team football and is said to be interested in a move to the North East.
It seems he could be allowed to depart as well because of the French club’s decision to sign another young striker in Reo Griffiths from Tottenham.
Get French Football News have suggested on Twitter that the player could cost as much as €10m (£9m) and many fans are sceptical that the club would pay the asking price:
Would they accept a Sports Direct mug and some Slazenger training socks?

Some think managing director Lee Charnley will find it difficult to negotiate with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas:
Good luck dealing with him… ????

#NUFC don’t have a very good experience of dealing with Aulas and his ego

I am not sure what to think about this link, to be honest with you. We have been rumoured to be interested in the player in the past, but he is anything but a proven goalscorer.
His record of eight goals in 16 appearances for France’s Under 19s is pretty good, but at senior level, he is an unknown quantity. He’s played just 22 matches and scored three times, but it was his first season in the first team. Do you think signing Maolida would be a good idea? Let me know in the poll:
