Would Signing 6ft 3 Striker Be A Shrewd Addition For Newcastle?

|

The Chronicle tweeted out a suggestion a couple of days ago that Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is available, and is interested in a move to another Premier League team.

Most replies to the suggestion were pretty negative, and I must say that I agree with them. The 20-year-old was a target for us on loan last season, but he opted to join Swansea instead.

His stock has fallen sharply since then, after scoring just five goals in 31 Premier League appearances. He may have only been given 15 starts, but his lack of goals in the top-flight would suggest he would not be capable of becoming our first-choice striker.

We couldn’t take the 6ft 3 forward on loan either as we have already signed Kenedy from Chelsea, so the deal would be a permanent one. He would probably be a cheaper alternative to Salomon Rondon, whose release clause is £16.5m, but neither player are particularly attractive options, to be honest with you.

Rafa has said he is working hard on getting a new striker through the door, and personally, I’m hoping that means we are looking to make an improved bid for Nice’s Alassane Plea. What do you think? Would Abraham prove a better signing than the Frenchman? Let me know in the poll:
