Newcastle United fans on Reddit have been in discussion over whether any of the dead-weights on the club’s books have done enough in pre-season to warrant another chance at St James’ Park.

The likes of Rolando Aarons, Jack Colback, Jamie Sterry and Achraf Lazaar have all gone from fringe players potentially leaving the club to earning minutes in our summer friendlies, while Jonjo Shelvey and Jacob Murphy are two men looking to emphasis their claims to a starting spot.

All aforementioned players featured at some stage in the Premier League Asia defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, before Sterry, Shelvey and Colback retained their places in the starting eleven against West Ham United while the others eventually came off the bench.

Shelvey even captained Newcastle in Saturday’s disheartening defeat to Preston North End, as question marks were raised on the team’s performance after two second-half spot-kicks decided the game in favour of the hosts.

Now, Toon fans are sharing their expectations of who we may continue to see in Black and White when the competitive fixtures begin, but there are not many players expected to leave the fringes for key first-team roles.

Here’s what these United supporters feel the future has in store for the club’s dead-weights…
