The Mirror being one of the club’s media partners said that Newcastle were close to finalising a deal for a winger yesterday but things change.

One of The Mail’s reporters who goes to regular press conferences at St James’ Park in Craig Hope, says that a bid for Norwich’s Jacob Murphy has failed.

The bid was said to be around £8m but it allegedly fell short of the valuation amidst the official line that he’s not for sale.

In what seems the usual Mike Ashley led way of bidding low for many players in the hope of a bite, time is starting to run out as patience is snapping in many people as well as continued talk of Rafa Benitez getting fed up with a regime that cant fit the task of running a football club properly.

As the days go on and the expectation or need for recruits increasing, it is unknown whether an increased bid will be made for the England U21 international.
