‘Who’, Surely not’ – These Newcastle fans give their verdict on puzzling managerial links

|

Newcastle United fans on Twitter were left feeling confused after reports emerged as to who might be installed at St James’ Park as Rafa Benitez’s replacement.

Various journalists on Twitter, including Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones and the Daily Star’s Aaron Stokes, have suggested Anthony Hudson is in contention to be the next Magpies manager.

The 38-year-old is currently out of work after being fired from MLS side Colorado Rapids in May – he was sacked after picking up just eight wins in his 46 games in charge.

He started his managerial career in 2008 at Real Maryland Monarchs and was there until 2010. Since then he has had spells with Newport County, Bahrain U23, Bahrain, New Zealand U23 and New Zealand before taking up his post with the Rapids.

The reports have left the Newcastle supporters feeling puzzled because it was not that long ago The Sun was reporting Jose Mourinho could be the next boss at St James’ Park.

Despite many of the fans not knowing much about Hudson, they do believe it would be typical of the club to go after someone out of a job so no compensation has to be paid. It is unlikely any appointment at this stage would appease the Newcastle fans.
