Talk Of The Tyne Blogs

Where is the Toon headed?

As this season is heading for its climax, many Newcastle supporters  and many neutrals are looking forward to what the new season and the new owners can bring to a team and a city who have endured 14 years of underinvestment and neglect.

To say NUFC have had a rollercoaster of a season is an understatement.

Languishing in the dreaded drop zone  for much of the season, and now becoming the first team in EPL history to ever survive the dro from being in the bottom  position at Christmas. Optimistic Geordies are now fervently looking towards the new season, new owners and a new era on Tyneside.

Talk of world class players arriving on Tyneside are awash around the pubs and clubs of the famous “Bigg Market,” but there is also a degree of scepticism,  and possibly delusion around who the club can attract to Tyneside . As players like Erling Haarland of Dortmund, who has now signed  for Table toppers Manchester City on a massive contract,  Tynesider’s,  and the many new international  fans the takeover has brought, are now looking anxiously to see at what level Newcastle will enter the bidding wars of a new transfer window.

No doubt every agent worth his salt and his 10% will be heading to Amanda Staveley’s door with options to buy this one or that one however; One thing she is renowned for, is being a “Canny” business women, the PIF consortium will not panic buy at overinflated prices.

Let’s all look forward to what is coming, dream of  amazing  players, dream of European football and support a new positive atmosphere at St James park, who knows those 14 years of hurt may yet be healed!
