Word On The Tweet

‘What’s going on?’, ‘Don’t Tweet’ – Some Newcastle fans react to latest club message

Some Newcastle fans took an opportunity not to wish a player a happy birthday on social media, but to make their feelings known about the takeover.

The official club Twitter account posted a birthday message for DeAndre Yedlin, but the supporters were in no mood to share in the celebrations.

Parts of the Newcastle fanbase believed an update from the Bin Zayed Group would have given more clarity to the situation, but it just muddied the waters even more.

Capital Radio UAE presenter Peter Redding, who claims he is in contact with the Middle East company released an update from BZG on his Twitter page.

He posted: “Following a meeting with Bin Zayed Group officials they would like to put on record the following information for NUFC fans:

‘Both parties have worked diligently in finalising a deal, none more so than ourselves. We have completed every aspect required in a takeover process.

‘The current owners have cooperated amicably throughout this process and if a deal is not forthcoming it will not be due to lack of effort from both parties.’”

Redding maintains the statement confirms there is a bid and the group wants the takeover to be completed.

However, some Newcastle fans were left feeling confused and took to Twitter and responded to the club’s birthday post to ask for information regarding the takeover.
