“What could possibly go wrong” – Some Newcastle fans accuse club of making “wrong move”

Some Newcastle United fans have reacted to reports that Steve Bruce will be given a £200m “war chest” when the 2019/20 campaign ends.

With the club about to be taken over by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Daily Mail reported that Bruce will receive a significant amount of money to guide us back into the Champions League.

The Magpies manager has been in charge at St James Park since the start of the current campaign, following the shock departure of Rafa Benitez after contract terms could not be agreed.

From the first day he walked through the door, segments of the fanbase were on his back almost immediately which reached unprecedented levels.

As a result, supporters were not a fan of the club’s next steps and doubted Bruce’s ability to move the club forward. One fan sarcastically asked “what could possibly go wrong”, while another simply stated that this was the wrong move and a top-class manager needs to be appointed.
